The United Helpers Maplewood Campus is based on more than ten years of research into progressive health care models which document the health and wellness benefits of providing care and services on a smaller scale- incorporating arts, nature, spiritual and recreation opportunities, as well as community and intergenerational connections, into elder/health care settings. The UHC Maplewood Campus project will accomplish four objectives: 1) transition to a social, resident-centered, rather than medical, model of care; 2) incorporate flexibility into the building design, so that our care facilities can better respond to changing consumer needs and preferences in the future; 3) reduce the isolation of nursing care patients by integrating our facilities with the community-at-large; and 4) introduce assisted living to the North County. Construction began in October of 2008 and is expected to be completed in early 2010.

A $29 Million project, Maplewood will replace existing UHC, add the county’s first Assisted Living Program, Out-Patient therapy services, and provide a home for the Canton (child) Day Care Center. The project consists of eight skilled-nursing cottages (96 accommodations), four assisted living cottages (48 accommodations) and an ancillary building, housing reception, out-patient therapy services, the Canton Day Care Center, Sanctuary, “Main Street”, and administrative offices. In addition to the main facilities, Maplewood will also house an outdoor pavilion & picnic area on the grounds as well. Click here to view our progress.
