Founded by 12 prominent Ogdensburg women, the Society's first efforts were to raise donations for the construction of an orphanage for destitute children, and later to provide a home for older women without family to care for them.
Today, United Helpers is a multi-faceted service organization, that owns or manages 27 separate facilities for older adults, developmentally disabled, and/or mentally ill. Together, we provide a good home, quality care and special services for more than 1000 people each day. United Helpers is the largest healthcare provider in St. Lawrence County, employing nearly 900 local individuals.
"To help those in need of human services assistance by working together to provide compassionate, quality and accessible care, while developing opportunities for each person to lead a fulfilling life."
