Updates, How We Are Protecting Your UH Family, and How You Can Help

Weekly Skilled Nursing/Assisted Living, Canton update for the week of May 11th:

Starting with the Covid-19 update, United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care in Canton had one resident test positive on April 22, 2020. She has since recovered, and no other residents have tested positive. The medical director tested positive on May 9, 2020, and is currently on isolation in his home.

On May 10, 2020, Governor Cuomo announced that all nursing homes and assisted living facilities in New York will be required to test staff twice a week. United Helpers is currently seeking out supplies and laboratories with the capacity to process the volume needed to meet this mandate. Initial testing will begin on May 18 with supplies obtained from St. Lawrence County Public Health. Any positive tests will be communicated to all residents and family members and representatives within 24 hours or by 5:00 pm the following day.

This week is also National Nursing Home Week. The staff at United Helpers are dedicated to supporting and protecting our residents. These are difficult times and our priority is the safety of everyone, while still maintaining connections with loved ones. We are happy to arrange virtual or window visits. Please contact Dawn Kimble, Activities Director in Canton, at (315) 386-4541 ext 3273, to schedule a visit.
