Weekly Skilled Nursing Canton/Assisted Living update for the week of May 29th:

Starting with the Covid-19 update, United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care in Canton has had no new residents or staff test positive since May 9, 2020. Our one resident and our medical provider are fully recovered.

On May 10, 2020, Governor Cuomo announced that all nursing homes and assisted living facilities in New York are required to test staff twice a week. We have implemented our testing processes and are in compliance with this order. Any positive tests will be communicated to all residents and family members and representatives within 24 hours or by 5:00 pm the following day.

This week we celebrated our Employee of the Month – it was all employees! Everyone has worked so hard and been so focused on keeping our residents and each other safe. We celebrated with a barbecue for the day shift and pizza for evenings and nights. The staff at United Helpers are dedicated to supporting and protecting our residents every day, and especially right now.

At this time, we have no new guidance from the governor regarding reopening our facilities to visitation. As soon as we have any information, we will let you know. These are difficult times and our priority is the safety of everyone, while still maintaining connections with loved ones. We are happy to arrange virtual or window visits. Please contact Dawn Kimble, Activities Director in Canton, at (315) 386-4541 ext 3273, to schedule a visit.
