Updates, How We Are Protecting Your UH Family, and How You Can Help

Weekly Skilled Nursing Update, Canton, for the week of June 19th:

We have no new confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 with staff or residents of the facility. We continue to test all staff weekly as mandated by New York State. We will continue to communicate any positive tests to all residents and family members and representatives within 24 hours or by 5:00 pm the following day. All other preventative measures remain in place: restricted visitation, staff screening for fever and respiratory symptoms, mask use of staff and residents, daily resident monitoring for symptoms, restricted group and dining activities, frequent hand hygiene, and social distancing when possible.

We have received many questions regarding when nursing homes will reopen for visitation, especially with the news this week that Governor Cuomo has allowed visitation to occur in hospitals and group home settings for the developmentally disabled. Unfortunately, none of the reopening plans thus far apply to nursing homes. There have been no updates as to when that will occur. We understand how difficult these restrictions have been and want to accommodate safe and alternative means of visitation to the best of our abilities. Please reach out to our Activities department if you are interested in alternative means of connecting with loved ones. Thank you all for your patience and stay safe.
