Weekly Skilled Nursing Canton/Assisted Living update for the week of June 26, 2020:
We continue to have no new residents or staff test positive since May 9, 2020. Our one resident and our medical provider are fully recovered.
As some of you know, we had some air conditioning issues in our buildings over the past couple of weeks. We provided fans to the residents and reminded them to keep their windows closed during the mid-day heat. I am happy to say that all of these issues have been resolved.
Staff testing continues once per week with no positives at this time. We will continue to communicate any positive tests to all residents and family members and/or representatives within 24 hours or by 5:00 pm the following day.
All other preventative measures, which include no visitation, staff screening for fever and respiratory symptoms, mask use by staff and residents, daily resident monitoring for symptoms, restricted group, and dining activities, and social distancing, remain in place.
There are no updates regarding opening senior long term care facilities in New York for visitors. Please reach out to our Activities department to schedule an alternative means of connecting with loved ones. We continue to coordinate phone calls, video chats, emails, and window visits to maintain family and friend connections. We understand how difficult these restrictions are and want to accommodate to the best of our abilities. Thank you all for your patience.
Please join me in giving a shout out to all of our certified nurse assistants during nurse aid appreciation week. We have a wonderful team of CNA’s who provide superb personal care and support to ensure our residents remain healthy and happy. Thank you for your commitment to UH and to your residents!
