Updates, How We Are Protecting Your UH Family, and How You Can Help

Weekly Skilled Nursing Update, Ogdensburg, for the week of July 2nd:

There are no current cases of COVID-19 at United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care in Ogdensburg.

To date, there have been no confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 with residents of the facility, and a total of two staff members that have tested positive. Both staff members have recovered and returned to work.

The facility continues to test all staff weekly as mandated by New York State and will communicate any positive tests to all residents and family members and representatives. All other preventative measures remain in place: restricted visitation, staff screening for fever and respiratory symptoms, mask use of staff and residents, daily resident monitoring for symptoms, restricted group and dining activities, frequent hand hygiene, and social distancing when possible.

Starting next week, our Activities department is organizing parking lot drive-bys where families and friends can support their loved ones in a parade-style. Our residents will be positioned at safe distances along the course so they can enjoy the honking, signs, shouting, etc. All participants are asked to remain in their vehicles during this event. This is being organized one neighborhood at a time, starting on Monday, July 6, at 2:00 PM with the Milligan Neighborhood. Please join us in the parking lot for this fun event! They will be gathering in the old Adult Home parking lot. The drive-bys are scheduled as follows (makeup dates will be scheduled for the following day if the weather does not cooperate):

July 6, 2:00 PM: Milligan Neighborhood

July 8, 2:00 PM: Knap Neighborhood

July 13 2:00PM: Claxton Neighborhood

July 15, 2:00 PM: Bosworth Neighborhood

July 20, 2:00 PM: Newell Neighborhood

There have been no updates from New York State regarding the re-opening of nursing homes for visitation. We understand how difficult these restrictions can be and want to accommodate safe and alternative means of visitation to the best of our abilities. Please reach out to our Activities department if you are interested in alternative means of connecting with loved ones. Thank you all for your patience and stay safe.
