Updates, How We Are Protecting Your UH Family, and How You Can Help

There are no current cases of COVID-19 at United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care in Ogdensburg.

To date, there have been no confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 with residents of the facility, and a total of two staff members that have tested positive. Both staff members have recovered and returned to work.

The Department of Health is issuing guidance in the coming days related to limited visitation for skilled nursing facilities and adult care facilities. Before visitation is allowed, specific criteria and plans must be in place to ensure safety for our Residents. Our team will be meeting early next week to review the requirements, develop a plan, and communicate the timeline for operationalizing visitation. This is exciting news and we are committed to creating an optimal environment for our residents and families. The communication and visitation plan will be posted to the UH webpage by Wednesday, July 15th.

The facility continues to test all staff weekly as mandated by New York State and will communicate any positive tests to all residents and family members and representatives. New York State as extended the testing mandate for another month. All other preventative measures remain in place: restricted visitation, staff screening for fever and respiratory symptoms, mask use of staff and residents, daily resident monitoring for symptoms, restricted group and dining activities, frequent hand hygiene, and social distancing when possible.

We had two successful parking lot drive-bys this week for the Milligan and Knap neighborhoods. This event is organized by our Activities department and is an opportunity for families and friends to support their loved ones in a parade style. Our residents will be positioned at safe distances along the course so they can enjoy the honking, signs, shouting, etc. All participants are asked to remain in their vehicles during this event. Please join us in the parking lot for this fun event! They will be gathering in the old Adult Home parking lot. The drive-bys are scheduled as follows (make up dates will be scheduled for the following day if weather does not cooperate):

July 13 2:00PM: Claxton Neighborhood

July 15 2:00PM: Bosworth Neighborhood

July 20 2:00PM: Newell Neighborhood

Thank you all for your patience and stay safe.
