Updates, How We Are Protecting Your UH Family, and How You Can Help 

We have had no new residents or staff test positive for Covid-19 since July 28, 2020.

Staff testing continues once per week per the governor’s guidance, and has been extended into September. We will continue to communicate any positive tests to all residents and family members and/or representatives within 24 hours or by 5:00pm the following day.

All other preventative measures, which include restricted visitation, staff screening for fever and respiratory symptoms, mask use by staff and residents, daily resident monitoring for symptoms, restricted group and dining activities, and social distancing, remain in place.

We have submitted our Safety Plans to Department of Health to re-open our limited visitation. It is anticipated to begin the first week of September, however it must be approved by NYS Department of Health before a firm date is established. In the meantime, we continue to assist with alternative visits such as window visits, video chats, phone calls, email, etc. You can arrange these visits through the Activities Department. As a reminder regarding window visits, please refrain from open window interactions. Unfortunately, window visits are required to occur with closed windows but conversations can be accomplished with a phone.

We started resident haircuts/hair styling this week by two staff members who have previous experience with hairdressing. This went well and will continue. Appointments can be scheduled by calling Rhi, at the Canton facility, at (315) 386-4541, extension 3267. Appointments will be available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9AM – noon, and Wednesdays from 9-3PM. The cost for hair appointments remains the same.
