Updates, How We Are Protecting Your UH Family, and How You Can Help

Weekly Skilled Nursing Canton/Assisted Living update for the week of September 4, 2020:

Late this morning, United Helpers Rehabilitation & Senior Care, Canton, received notification that a staff member tested positive for Covid-19. All residents and staff will be tested this week and next week. Re-opening visitation that was planned to begin next week is now put on hold for at least 28 days.

Staff testing continues once per week per the governor’s guidance and we expect it will be extended again next week. We will communicate any positive tests to all residents and family members and/or representatives within 24 hours or by 5:00 pm the following day.

All other preventative measures, which include restricted visitation, staff screening for fever and respiratory symptoms, mask use by staff and residents, daily resident monitoring for symptoms, restricted group and dining activities, and social distancing, remain in place.

We still offer support and assistance with alternative visits such as window visits, video chats, phone calls, email, etc. You can arrange these visits through the Activities Department. As a reminder regarding window visits, please refrain from open window interactions. Window visits are required to occur with closed windows but conversations can be accomplished with a phone.

The landscaping around our building will also be updated beginning next week. At this point, we do not have specific information on which areas will be impacted on which days, but we will make you aware as we receive more specific plans from the landscaper. This work may affect window visits, and we will let you know of alternative locations if your loved one’s room or usual window area is impacted. We also ask that you remove any bird feeders or ornaments you may have outside of the windows until the project is complete.

Again, we thank you for your patience and support. We will keep you updated with any further changes.
