Weekly Skilled Nursing Update, Ogdensburg, for the week of October 16
United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care in Ogdensburg did not receive any positive test results from the mandated staff testing or any resident testing completed this past week.
To date, there have been no confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 with residents of the facility, and a total of three staff members have tested positive. All three staff members have recovered and returned to work.
Limited visitation continues at this time and will be held indoors unless weather permits outside visits. As a reminder, the revised New York State visitation restriction now requires that all visitors must present a verified negative test result within 7 days of visiting. St. Lawrence County Public Health provided contact information to local testing sites in the area:
St. Lawrence Health System: 315-261-6240
Claxton Hepburn Medical Center: 315-713-6655
Clifton-Fine Hospital: 315-848-8049
We have revised the visitation schedule to include limited Saturday availability. The schedule will be as follows:
Monday: 1:00pm, 2:00pm, 3:00pm
Wednesday: 10:00am, 11:00am, 1:00pm, 2:00pm,
Thursday: 1:00pm, 2:00pm, 3:00pm
Friday: 1:00pm, 2:00pm, 3:00pm
Saturday (every other): 10:00am, 11:00am, 1:00pm, 2:00pm, 3:00pm
New York State continues to strictly prohibit any visits to resident rooms or areas so the indoor visits are held in a designated area. There is a requirement from New York State that all visitors must present a negative test result within the last 7 days in order to participate in an outdoor or indoor visit.
We also continue to assist with alternative visits such as window visits, video chats, phone calls, email, etc. As a reminder regarding window visits, please refrain from open window interactions. Unfortunately, window visits are required to occur with closed windows but conversations can be accomplished with a phone.
The facility continues to test all staff weekly as mandated by New York State and will communicate any positive tests to all residents and family members and representatives. All other preventative measures remain in place: restricted visitation, staff screening for fever and respiratory symptoms, mask use of staff and residents, daily resident monitoring for symptoms, restricted group and dining activities, frequent hand hygiene, and social distancing when possible.
Thank you all for your patience and stay safe.
