Weekly Skilled Nursing Canton/Assisted Living update for the week of October 29, 2020, issued November 2, 2020
We were notified on Thursday, 10/28/2020, that we had two asymptomatic staff members in the nursing home test positive. All nursing home residents were tested, and all results have come back negative. Staff testing continues once per week per the governor’s guidance, and this is how the staff positives were detected. We will communicate any positive tests to all residents and family members and/or representatives within 24 hours or by 5:00 pm the following day.
Visitation for the entire campus is shut down now for at least 14 days. We will resubmit a Safety Plan to the Department of Health on day 13 with our plan to reopen visitation. The process will remain the same for scheduling and participating in visitation in the Meditation Room. During visitation hours, a sign will be posted in the parking lot directing you to the right of the main entrance to enter directly into the Meditation Room for visitation screening and your visit. Per the Governor’s guidance, all visitors must show a negative Covid-19 test result within the past seven days of their visit, and social distancing must be maintained during all visits.
All other preventative measures, which include staff screening for fever and respiratory symptoms, mask use by staff and residents, daily resident monitoring for symptoms, restricted group and dining activities, and social distancing, remain in place.
Alternative visits, such as window visits, video chats, phone calls, email, etc., continue to be offered and encouraged. You can arrange these visits through the Activities Department at extension 3273. As a reminder regarding window visits, they must occur with closed windows but conversations can be accomplished with a phone. We also ask that you bring a lawn chair/camp chair to sit in as our outdoor furniture is limited. We have placed small tags inside each window, facing out in the upper right-hand corner, showing the cottage and room number.
As always, we thank you for your continued patience and support. We will keep you updated with any further changes.
