Updates, How We Are Protecting Your UH Family, and How You Can Help

Weekly Skilled Nursing Canton/Assisted Living update for the week of December 24, 2020

United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care in Canton currently has 21 residents and 14 staff members in the nursing home actively positive for Covid-19.  One resident is hospitalized.  In the Assisted Living Program (ALP), all residents and staff have recovered.

Visitation remains suspended at this time and cannot resume until at least 14 days after the last positive Covid-19 case is reported.

All ALP residents were retested on Thursday, 12/17/2020, with all of those results coming back negative.  Resident testing will continue every 3-7 days until there are no positive results for 14 days.  Staff testing continues once per week per the governor’s guidance.  Any positive test results will be reported to residents and families within 24 hours.

We are scheduled through our pharmacy partner, HealthDirect, for all nursing home residents and up to half of the staff to receive the Pfizer vaccine on December 31, 2020.  A second dose will be administered 28 days later, along with the other half of the staff receiving their initial dose.  Administration has been working with HealthDirect to vaccinate the ALP residents at the same time, but this has not been confirmed.  We will keep you updated as more information is received.

Many thanks to the dedicated staff who continue to care for our residents during these difficult times.  And many thanks to the supportive and appreciative family members.  Thank you for your continued support.  We wish you safe and happy holidays.
