Updates, How We Are Protecting Your UH Family, and How You Can Help

Weekly Skilled Nursing, Canton/Assisted Living update for the week of January 15, 2021

United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care in Canton currently has 20 residents and 26 staff members in the nursing home actively positive for Covid-19.  Ninety-five residents and staff have recovered so far.  One resident is hospitalized, and 13 have passed.  In the Assisted Living Program (ALP) there are no positives.

Visitation remains suspended at this time and cannot resume until at least 14 days after the last positive Covid-19 case is reported.

Resident testing will continue every 3-7 days until there are no positive results for 14 days.  Staff testing is now twice per week and will continue until we receive further direction from New York State.  Any positive test results will be reported to residents and families within 24 hours.

We had our first dose of the Covid vaccine on 12/31/2020.  Both nursing home and ALP residents and staff participated.  The second dose is scheduled at our facility on January 21, 2021.  The second dose will be administered to those who received their first dose on December 31, and residents and staff who did not receive it then will receive their first dose on January 21, 2021.

Our staff continues to work through these difficult times with a focus on keeping our residents safe, comfortable, and connected.  We appreciate the wonderful donations of snacks, meals, and the thank-yous and kind words that have come to us during the past couple of months.  It is greatly appreciated.  We look forward to seeing you all again soon.
