Updates, How We Are Protecting Your UH Family, and How You Can Help

Weekly Skilled Nursing, Canton/Assisted Living update for the week of February 12, 2021

United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care in Canton currently has no residents in the nursing home positive for Covid-19. There are two staff members quarantined in their homes for 14 days.

In the Assisted Living Program (ALP), there is one resident who tested positive earlier this week, and one staff member positive with about one more week of quarantine.

Visitation remains suspended at this time.

Staff continues to be tested twice per week per the guidance from New York State. Any positive test results will be reported to residents and families within 24 hours. Resident testing will occur in response to any positive results.

We had our first dose of the Covid vaccine on December 31, 2020. Both nursing home and ALP residents and staff participated. Second doses and additional first doses for those who missed the first round were on January 21, 2021. The final scheduled clinic was held on February 11, 2021. We are awaiting New York State direction on administering vaccines to new residents and staff or those who were unable to be vaccinated in-house previously. At this time, there is not yet a firm plan in place.

Our in-house dental visits and in-house eye appointments will be resuming soon. We are in the process of coordinating dates for these important services.

Again, we thank you all for your patience during this time. We know it is lonely and difficult not seeing friends and family in the facility, but we are hopeful that we may be able to make some positive changes in the coming months. We will keep you posted with any updates or changes in guidance.
