High Street IRA is located in the small town of Morristown, NY, just home to under 400 people. The High Street IRA sits on a side road with minimal traffic, that is surrounded by trees and wildlife. High Street is only a short walk or drive from the main street which offers restaurants, churches, a fire station, library, school, and Dollar General. Such restaurants include Ella’s, Turner’s Inn, and Ironhorse. In the approaching future, a bank and Tim Horton’s will be a new addition to Morristown.
The Property
High Street IRA is handicapped accessible. The home offers a full kitchen with plenty of room for cooking and meal preparation, a dining room, and a spacious living room area for mingling. This IRA is recognized for its quiet and peaceful area, making the outdoor patio with a swing and gazebo a serene place for residents to enjoy relaxing.
The Atmosphere
With all program members being over the age of 45 in the High Street IRA, most enjoy relaxing in the quiet home, with occasional music and TV watching from time to time. This pet friendly residence is also home to an indoor/outdoor cat named Millie, while some staff bring in their pets to visit at times. As Morristown is situated on the St. Lawrence River and in close proximity to Black Lake, program members enjoy fishing, camping, boating, and enjoying picnics outside. Gardening, washing the vans, sidewalk chalk, bubbles and the sprinkler are a few of the interests during the warmer months, and activities such as painting canvas’, coloring, and indoor bowling are some winter activities that pique interest. Overall, High Street IRA is a very relaxed home where everyone enjoys doing their own thing, but also getting out into the community as much as possible. All program members who reside at High Street IRA participate in Meals on Wheels on a weekly basis, as well as mail delivery to other IRAs.
