The Atmosphere

With all program members being over the age of 45 in the High Street IRA, most enjoy relaxing in the quiet home, with occasional music and TV watching from time to time. This pet friendly residence is also home to an indoor/outdoor cat named Millie, while some staff bring in their pets to visit at times. As Morristown is situated on the St. Lawrence River and in close proximity to Black Lake, program members enjoy fishing, camping, boating, and enjoying picnics outside. Gardening, washing the vans, sidewalk chalk, bubbles and the sprinkler are a few of the interests during the warmer months, and activities such as painting canvas’, coloring, and indoor bowling are some winter activities that pique interest. Overall, High Street IRA is a very relaxed home where everyone enjoys doing their own thing, but also getting out into the community as much as possible. All program members who reside at High Street IRA participate in Meals on Wheels on a weekly basis, as well as mail delivery to other IRAs.
