COVID Visitation Information
Moving at the speed of safety. United Helpers follows the guidelines set forth by the NYS Department of Health (DOH) and the NYS Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) with regard to visitation.
For the health and safety of our residents and staff, we ask that loved ones refrain from visiting at any time they are feeling ill.
Current Information
Limited Visitation at United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care-Ogdensburg
Updated: 3/30/2021
Expanded visitation will begin on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, based on directives provided by the New York State Department of Health. All visitors will complete a one-time attestation form regarding vaccination status, testing acceptance, and adherence to the core principles of COVID-19. Testing will be offered weekly to visitors on Monday and Wednesday from 11 am-2 pm. We will continue to offer in-person visitation in a designated visiting area on a scheduled basis and in-room visitation will be allowed if certain core principles and best practices can be maintained to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission. In order to maintain these infection control principles, we will allow visitation during daytime hours (8:00 am to 4:00 pm), 7 days a week. As the weather improves, outdoor visitation will be the preferred option of visitation.
During any type of visitation, health screenings, the use of masks (covering mouth and nose), hand hygiene, and disinfection of surfaces will be required. Social distancing at least six feet between persons is also required unless a fully vaccinated resident chooses to have closer contact. Each resident should have no more than 2 visitors and limit visits to 30-60 minutes in length. Visitors should not move about in other areas of the facility.
The facility may need to restrict visitation or designate certain areas for visitation if there are instances of high visitor volume. Visiting will also be suspended with any new onset of COVID-19 (residents or staff) until full building testing can occur and results can be evaluated for further decisions regarding resumption of visits.
