COVID: UHRSC Canton Update for June 4

Update for the week of June 4, 2021

United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care in Canton currently has no active cases of COVID-19. The Assisted Living Program (ALP) also has no active cases at this time. The building is open for expanded visitation. We will continue to offer and encourage visitation in a designated visiting area for unvaccinated residents on a scheduled basis and in-room visitation will also be allowed if certain core principles and best practices are followed to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission. In order to maintain these infection control principles, we ask that visitation occurs during daytime hours (8:00 am to 4:00 pm), 7 days a week. Outdoor visitation is also encouraged and preferred during nice weather. All visitors will be required to check-in and be screened at the Administration Building Main Entrance. Rapid testing will be available for visitors weekly during designated times: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 am-2:00 pm.

During any type of in-person (indoor and outdoor) visitation, health screenings, the use of masks (covering mouth and nose), hand hygiene, and disinfection of surfaces will be required. Social distancing at least six feet between persons is also required unless a fully vaccinated resident chooses to have closer contact (mask use is still required). Each resident should have no more than 2 visitors in the room and limit visits to 30-60 minutes in length. Visitors will also be limited to the visiting area or room and should not move about in other areas of the facility.

The facility may need to restrict visitation or designate certain areas for visitation if there are instances of high visitor volume. Visiting will also be suspended with any new onset of COVID-19 (residents or staff) until full building testing can occur and results can be evaluated for further decisions regarding resumption of visits.

Staff continue to be tested twice weekly per the guidance from New York State.

Thank you again for your support and patience through the challenges of the past year. It has been wonderful seeing our families back in the building once again.
