COVID | VISITATION | TESTING | VACCINATION | SANITATION | EDUCATION
Update for the week of May 28, 2021
United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care in Canton currently has one active case of COVID-19. A fully vaccinated staff member tested positive for COVID-19 that interacted regularly with residents, staff, and visitors but these interactions were brief and with masks. Unfortunately, we are required to suspend indoor visitation at the nursing home until criteria has been met to discontinue outbreak testing, which is until regular (at least weekly) testing identifies no new cases of COVID-19 infection among staff or residents for a period of at least 14 days since the most recent positive result. To date, all testing results have been negative. If there are no new cases, indoor visitation at the nursing home will reopen on Wednesday, June 2 (following previous guidelines). Visitation for the Assisted Living Program remains open and is unaffected by this new case.
Outdoor visitation is still available on a scheduled basis at the nursing home seven days a week, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Per New York State, outdoor visits will have the same infection control requirements as indoor visits: screening for symptoms, mask use at all times, social distancing unless the resident is fully vaccinated, and hand hygiene. All visitors will continue to be screened at the Administration Building Main Entrance before the outdoor visit. In order to ensure there is available outdoor areas and our residents are ready for the visit, please call the social worker assigned to your loved one to schedule the visit. Please schedule weekend visits ahead of time during the week due to the limited availability of staff.
Thank you again for your support and patience through the challenges of the past year. It has been wonderful seeing our families back in the building and we hope to welcome you back again in very soon.
